Code of Conduct

All TOP 100 registered companies are the best in the industry and as such are expected to work to a high professional standard. Furthermore, the moral and ethical workings of the TOP 100 companies must also be of the highest order.

The M.W.C.I.A. TOP 100 register will not accept or condone any unprofessional practices which may put the consumer at a disadvantage.

All TOP 100 registered companies should generally follow the guidelines below:-

a.  Contract details should be clear and unambiguous and the consumer should receive a full explanation as to the works to be undertaken and the full cost of those works.

b. Contract Terms and Conditions should be fair to both parties, should be set out in plain English and should not contravene the Unfair Terms in Consumer Contracts Regulations 1999 and amendments.

c.  All TOP 100 registered companies should also adhere to the Legislation set out in the Unfair Trading Regulations 2008.

d.  All TOP 100 registered companies must carry sufficient Public Liability Insurance.

e.  Any variations or extra work to the contract must be discussed with the consumer prior to instigation of said variations or extra work. It is not acceptable that variations or extra work be carried out without prior consumer consent.

f.   In most cases time will not be of the essence, nevertheless the TOP 100 registered company         should seek to complete the works in a reasonable period of time and delays should only be considered acceptable when the delays are reasonable, and generally beyond the control of the registered member.
